I Mess Up Salisbury Cathedral Photo Shoot - Photo Biker 31
Description
This video is about things going wrong. It happens, even to photographers like me who’ve been at it for a lifetime!
Did I get out of the wrong side of the bed? Is it karma for something? Maybe just pure bad luck… But on this shoot, everything went topsyturvy, from issues with my bike to my GoPro dying - which made me late to the location when I wanted to be there for sunrise…
Not to mention broken glasses and my camera misbehaving at the worst moment.
Did I give up? Heck no, I persevered - and I actually ended up with some ok images. Still, best of all, I learnt a valuable lesson.
When you make a plan for how you want to approach a photoshoot, it’s important to stick to it. Get up early, and check things the night before.
Anyway, you can see what I made of a morning that didn’t go to plan. Just because things aren’t quite ticking the right boxes doesn't mean unexpected opportunities won’t arise. But, to make the most of them, you need to have your photographer’s brain switched on.
Read the room, or like in my case, the landscape. What could mother nature be offering that you can use to make for an interesting shot?
More often than not, great photographs happen because of creativity.
Have a watch of the video to see what I made of a morning that didn’t go to plan. I’ll explain why I pick the locations I do, what sort of lenses and settings I need, and what makes a shot more interesting with light and composition.
Remember, don’t be afraid to mess up - it’s all great learning!
Best wishes...
