Lee filters factory
Lee Filters managing director Eddie Ruffell shows me around their Hampshire based factory.
Lee began making filter systems for the movie industry 25 years ago and are a part of global giant Panavision.
However they maintain a very approachable 'cottage industry' feel to the company as anyone who's ever met the team will testify.
For many years Lee Filters were the domain of professional photographers and film crews, but with the explosive growth in popularity of digital SLR cameras more and more enthusiasts have recognised the superior quality of their filter system, and for the last two years demand has gone through the roof.
Lee filters currently produce around 800 filters per week and are working flat out to keep up with growing demand. They are increasing output by 50% over the next 12 months with a target of 100% moving forward.
We've also shot a series of films about using Lee filters with international stock photographer Tom Mackie who uses them on a daily basis. Checkout our Lee 'Big Stopper' video.
