Street Photography Pt. 1
Street photography is a blend of photographic and people skills and is the ultimate people watching. It’s a genre packed with opportunities for fantastic images but it’s vital to know how to be comfortable photographing strangers.
And on top of that you have to know which camera settings and lenses to use to make your images powerful.
It can be very uncomfortable photographing complete strangers at first so here's a way to ease yourself in by shooting Street Photography Still Lifes - which not only make great images in themselves, they’re an opportunity to grab shots of people without them knowing it. Wide lenses are perfect for this because you don't have to point them directly at anyone.
We’ll talk you through finding the depth of field you need, which ISO to use, making sure your images are sharp by avoiding camera shake as well as composition and more.
Thanks to The 7 Building Blocks of Photography, Instead of just shooting - I now know how to check the lighting, composition, focal length options, subject sharpness, exposure and white balance, and don’t feel guilty that I am taking the extra time. I now look forward to seeing my images and know that more of them will be images that I am proud of, instead of just being “images”.
