Using Leading Lines Pt. 3
Wherever you are and whatever you're thinking of photographing don't make the mistake of sweeping the camera up to your eye and just snapping away. Spend a moment and look for some leading lines to strengthen the composition. If you don't know how to find leading lines then have a look at my Masterclass in Photography.
A ruined castle on a hill will always be interesting when you're standing next to it, but a photo needs more care with composition to make it interesting.
Have a walk around and look for some leading lines, see if there's any foreground you could use too and maybe combine the two. When you're practising it's best to go alone because as you'll see in the video, looking for leading lines can take a minute or two and it'll drive family and friends mad - unless they happen to be into photography too.
Park benches are the natural home of the leading line. Set up the composition with the slats coming in from one side across and into the frame and they'll become leading lines which lead your viewer into the image to the place where you want them to look.
