Finding The Picture
So you've found a great location and you just know there's some fantastic images to be had. You run around snapping off loads of shots but the images somehow don't seem to work and the compositions aren't what you hoped for.
We've ALL been there!
A composition which is simple is usually the strongest. But how do you go about finding strong compositions for your photography?
Finding the picture amongst all the clutter surrounding it is a mind set - a way of looking and thinking your way through a promising location and liberating a powerful image from its surroundings. As humans our brains filter out distractions from a scene and we don't notice them - until we look at a photo we've taken and marvel at how we could have missed them.
Choosing the right focal length so you can keep the elements you want, and exclude those you don't will make a huge difference. Remember to move yourself about and think how to compose the photo. Most of all take your time with composition - there's a thought to go through, not just snaps to take.
