It's just a pain in the arse when your prints come back looking nothing like the way you had them on your screen so we wondered, where do you go for the best digital photo printing?
It's a question we've been asked a lot so we've put my two professional labs up against high street shops Jessops and Boots to compare print quality, accuracy and value for money.
When you've gone to the trouble of making sure your monitor calibration is spot on, taken your time and shot a lovely well lit beautifully composed image and done your photo editing to get the best from the file, you want to be sure that what you get back from the printers matches your monitor.
I haven't had any digital photo printing done on the high street for many years because doing it for a living I use one of two a professional photo printers in the UK, either ProAm Imaging or Paul Williams.
This is a real life test to see if the high street stacks up to the professional printers and find out where to go for the best digital photo printing service. Well have a look at the results when they come back from the printers in part 2.
I completed your 7 Building Blocks of Photography course last summer. The main benefit for me is the ability to pre-visualise the subject as I would like it, then create it using the relevant blocks. This makes the whole process much more interesting, creative and rewarding. It has added a new dimension to my photography.
