Good Light Pt. 1

Have you ever looked at two photos of the same place (or person) taken from the same spot and one really stands out from the other - but you're not sure why?

It'll be because of the lighting. Good light is what sets interesting photos apart and makes you enjoy looking at them.

Photographers often speak about 'Good' and 'Bad' light - but what does that mean?

Actually all light is good - but if you want to get the 'wow' factor into your photos you must find appropriate lighting for whatever it is you're photographing. And sometimes you have to be pretty quick about it because light can change very fast indeed.

Good light is more important than composition, expression or location because if the light doesn't work for the subject - your photo will never 'wow' anyone.

We humans don't naturally notice or look for good light - it's a skill that's not hard to master but usually has to be learnt. Check out part 1B of Good light.....
