Manual Exposure

7 Building Blocks of Photography 2

Description

Lots of people have asked "How do I make a manual exposure?" Well, manual exposure is only a case of choosing a shutter and aperture combination to let enough light hit your camera's sensor to record an image. And I promise it's easy!

At the same time you can manage depth of field as well as whether to freeze or blur movement. Like getting a blurry effect when photographing a waterfall for instance. Cool eh?

By understanding manual exposure you become the driving force behind your image making and will know what to do when your camera gets the wrong exposure whilst shooting in an auto mode.

Sometimes you'll be trying to photograph something where the highlights and shadows are beyond the range of the camera to capture so we'll also show you how to set an exposure for a particular part of the image - such as sunlight or shade. I promise you - setting a manual exposure is really simple once someone shows you where to begin.
