Aperture Priority (AV) Pt-2

Get paid when someone looks at your photos

Description

Aperture priority is a semi automatic mode which lets you choose the aperture you want to work with according to the kind of image you're after.

In this photo I wanted the 'Flame' tank sharp and the ''Retro 23' tank soft and blurry - this is called controlling depth of field and with aperture priority it's really easy to do.

For an image like this you need to set a wide aperture which will give you a shallow depth of field. In other words areas in front and behind the point of focus are soft which makes the part of the image you've focused on stand out from everything else.

The opposite is true too, by selecting a small aperture in aperture priority mode you can maximise depth of field to make more sharp.

I know this sounds complex but I promise you it isn't. Aperture Priority / aperture value is one of the simplest things to use that'll have a creative impact on your photos - and make your life easier at the same time. I use aperture priority with all lengths of lens because it's quick, easy and gives me the creativity I want.
