Why buy photography courses from us?

Good question.
Let us introduce ourselves. We're Mike Browne and Jayne Whitelock, and we're going to bring you a lot of expertise between us.

Starting with me, Mike. If you 'Google' the words 'Mike Browne Photographer' you'll find me popping up all over the place. I bought my first camera in 1968 when I was six years old (bloody hell I'm getting old!) and turned full time professional in 1993. Since then I have photographed commercial, advertising, PR and social commissions all over the world. Ambassador and The Royal Photographic Society. The images are still being used world wide by world class organisations such as USAID, World Population Institute and UK Department for International Development (DFID).

Photography Courses

Amongst my awards are five national photographic awards, from Fuji, Kodak and the Master Photographers Association. I have tried and tested new products for Kodak, Hasselblad, Pentax, Metz, Cokin and more. With Jayne's help I'm a regular contributor to 'Digital Photo Pro' and 'DSLR User' Magazines.

The double page spread opposite entitled 'Pentax Challenge' was shot for a Pentax advert. You may have seen the video on the Digital Photography Exposed page, and if you buy the course you'll learn exactly how to shoot it for yourself!

And now me, Jayne. I've worked for around the last 15 years as a top TV producer director, making programmes as diverse as DIY, documentaries and daily live broadcast TV. Amongst my 'brownie points' is a Royal Television Society award for innovation for BBC City Hospital (which I produced for eleven series!). When Mike and I got together nearly seven years ago (professionally and in that way too!) I got really inspired by Mike and his passion for photography. (and he makes me laugh!) So instead of telling other people where to point them, I learnt the art of both moving and stills cameras for myself. We've been running a highly successful business sharing our skills ever since. Between us we really do know image making!

...Mike's colloquial style of writing is engaging and the information easy to read and digest. You've even shown how to copy the shots used to illustrate the course. I am now inspired to go out and snap away instead of putting my kit up for auction on ebay! "

About Mike Browne

I used to drive bulldozers and trucks for a living, but photography was always my passion! Aged 29 I quit my job, sold all my belongings and spent a year back-packing in Australia and Africa - where I finally discovered what I wanted to do with my life! I came back to the UK in 1991, studied photography at night school and got my first commission in 1993. The business has evolved from there...

I went fully over to digital photography in 2005 and though shooting digital is similar to film, digital photography has one or two fundamental differences which drove me so mad trying to master to the highest level, I nearly left professional photography for ever. Digital photography isn't rocket science, but until you've figured it out - it might as well be! In Digital Photography Exposed I'll share what I pulled my hair out learning so you don't have to.

So as an added bonus, not only will you be taking stunning pictures - you'll still have all your hair!! Assuming you have some....

About Jayne Whitelock

I've been working with images pretty much all my adult life. After 15 years as a senior TV producer, I joined forces with Mike to form our photographic and filming business.

I've worked on every kind of programme from documentary to DIY. So my greatest expertise is with moving images (there's a course being planned on that too) but I also work with Mike as a second stills photographer from time to time. My main role in producing the courses though has been to get Mike's creative ramblings out of his head and onto the page!

We want our Digital Photography courses to make a difference and be valuable, so your input is important to us. We can't give you what you want if you don't tell us what it is, so please take a moment to drop us a line with any suggestions you may have.

Thanks for reading this page - we look forward to hearing from you...

The kind of social photography we do

Jayne and I work throughout the UK photographing and filming one of the trickiest things in all of photography - weddings! Why are weddings so tricky? Because each one is unique and there's no second chance if it gets screwed up (which, by the way, has never happened to us!)
