Birmingham hosts swap shop for photographers

 16th Mar 2009

Birmingham’s art centre and gallery space, the Custard Factory, is to host a swap shop for amateur and professional photographers in the region, which hopes to raise awareness of the need for a permanent space for photography to be exhibited in the city.

On 21 March, any photographer can take their prints to the city centre venue and can leave with their favourite print by another photographer, providing they leave their own prints for others.

The ‘Flash Swap’ is being organised by local group, Birmingham Photospace, which is highlighting the need for a space to display photography in Birmingham permanently. Birmingham Photospace says that any image is welcome providing it’s small enough to fit through the doors!

Prospective exhibitors are able to bring their images along between 11am and 4pm and the swapping and viewing will be held between 5pm and 8pm the same evening.

The group hopes the event will attract sponsorship and awareness for their cause, which would benefit photographers all over the Birmingham area.

Participants can express their interest in joining in the swap shop to the following email address: patrick @ birminghamphotospace.co.uk.
