Oil on Water

7 Building Blocks of Photography 2

Sometimes when you get the creative urge, it's wet and dull outside you might be looking for a cool photo idea. Using only the glass from a picture frame, some cans of cola and a desk lamp, this picture was taken by one of our regular viewers photographer Nick Jeffrey in his kitchen.

When he uploaded to our Facebook page we asked how he did it and he kindly agreed to share his technique with everyone else. With a bit of ingenuity and some experimentation you can get some startling results - and we love it!

There are loads of cool photos waiting to be taken almost everywhere. The trick is being able to spot and execute them. A lot of photography is about finding ways to do things and less about the camera. Thinking on your feet and finding ways around things is key.

You really don't need specialist equipment or fancy cameras to take great photos that belong on your wall being enjoyed.
