Hello everyone,

my name is Patrick de Bie and I'm an amateur photographer from the Netherlands. I'm currently 33 years old and shooting with a Nikon D7000 and an old-timer analog camera (Zeiss Ikon Nettar).

I'm a big fan of Mike and his YouTube channel and I'm going to follow his 7 blocks course, because I'm still learning after all these years of shooting.

A part of my portfolio can be found on my personal website http://www.patrickdebie.nl or on my Flickr page https://www.flickr.com/photos/patrickdebie

Best regards,

Patrick de Bie

Hi, I'm Alan from Johannesburg, South Africa and I have just got back into photography after 20+ years. My Pentax SP1000 film camera was stolen in 1993 and I bought my Nikon D3200 in April 2014 for my 60th birthday.

I'm the guy Mike refers to in the Overcome Fear of Getting it Wrong video. Then I come to the web site and find even more videos I can download and put off taking photographs forever. 8-)

I am a semi retired truck/bus driver and a motorcycle instructor, (Love my BMW K100rs)
I traveled twice on aid missions to Romania when the wall first came down in 89 and regret I was not into taking pics then.

I'm a late starter to photography learning everything from books and videos, My current camera is a Sony A330 with four lenses. I love macro work and use a cheap Cosina 100 f3.5 lens as well as tubes or reversing ring with a prime 50mm, everything on a shoestring.
Looking forward to learning even more.

Hello,
I am a beginner to photography. I have just completed a diploma in basic photography and now started on Mike's 7 Building blocks to think like a photographer. I am now working on block 2. I really hope that it will teach me to think like a photographer because I spend hours on the assignments.
I have just got my new DSLR camera. It is a Nikon D7100 with an 18 - 55mm lens. A big step for me. Before that it was point & shoot with my mobile phone camera.

Happy Tuesday everyone.
My name is Steve, i'm a 41yr old Scot who lives in South Hampshire and works in Monaco.

I've been taking photographs for as long as I can remember, but mainly with a point and shoot compacts, until the Head of Domestics bought me a D3000 in 2010.

Since then this soul stealing device has been permanently welded to my side giving me hours of pleasure.
Being an Engineer I threw myself into the technical side of photography, with no real idea about the creative side of the art, but in the last couple of years I have been inhaling information and knowledge on composition, lines, colour, contrast etc etc.

Having a few spare quid last year I purchased a D7000 (only because I was annoyed cycling through menus to change ISO, White Balance etc), which I now shooting with, through a 35mm f/1.8 DX, and I absolutely love it. (I also bought a 1964 Canon FX SLR with 50mm lens this year, when I came home on leave without a camera, so i'm aware that I have stuck in a Prime trap that I wish to get out of.)

I stumbled across Mike's YouTube channel and immediately warmed to his content, teaching methods, content, knowledge and general presentation skills, hence why I have joined the forum.
I would love to spend a few pounds on a course with Mike, to give me some direction, pointers, help me correct my mistakes and stop me fearing other lenses than the 35mm, but working in France makes it difficult to be on Hampshire coast.

Anyway, nice to meet you all and I look forward to further discussions, when they arise.
Bon jour from Fareham & Monaco

I am new to the forum. The instructional videos that got me to this site are very helpful. I like the direct and non-technical language used in the explanations as well as the frequent examples shown.
I learned Photoshop primarily through Youtube-but prefer the shooting to the post work.

Like many I guess I came across the site when I found Mike's great videos.

Bought my first dslr (d3200) around 2 months ago (aged 63) and am determined to build this hobby.

I like Mike's style and simple approach to the subject - not shouty or self opinionated. Also bought video course Digital Photography Exposed - a great addition to my understanding.

Keep up the great work

This site is a little different from most I've been use to so I hope its for an introduction. My name is Dick Walters and I'm from south central North Carolina, USA. I'm retired and taking it easy. My hobby is metal detecting, fossil hunting, and photography. I have a Canon t2i and have had it for a couple of years and still learning how to get the most out of it. I'm considering moving up to the t5i and have found this site very informative. I've learned more from this site than I have any other. Great work.
