The Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2012 competition was launched this week and is open to professional and amateur photographers. Everyone is being invited to showcase their work through a number of different categories.

 

The Apple a Day category judges 'the most exciting, creative, inventive and beautiful images of an apple' and will see a £2 donation sent to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity for every entry received. Junior snappers might want to enter the Young Photographer category as well.

Taking part in the competition not only increases the possible audience for photographers, but the winner will also receive a grand prize of £5,000 following judging by a panel of food journalists, photographers, retail giants and chefs. The winners will be announced in The Mall Galleries in London on 24 April 2012.
