The "Smart-Arts" event, held at Pall Mall's "La Galeria" from 10th December, will feature illustrations, photographs and lino cuts of interest to anyone currently involved in ­ or thinking of investing in ­ a photography training DVD, since they have been scanned or photographed to produce digital files.

Artist David Holmes says his inspiration for the event was a recent commission, made by Royal Mail, for him to design a postage stamp for the 2012 Olympic Games.

Holmes and photographer Paul Redman subsequently decided to invite other artists who have been commissioned to design postage stamps to join them in exhibiting and selling their work.

I find the work to be creatively inspirational with the emphasis firmly on the whimsical, enigmatic and amusing side of life.

A limited edition of 30 A3 prints of each work have been produced using Epson’s Stylus Photo R2880 A3+ printer and UltraChrome K3 Vivid Magenta ink to ensure accurate colour reproduction and high quality, long-lasting prints.

These will be on sale at the exhibition for £150 and this evening Paul Redman told me. "You'll be able to pick 'em up, roll 'em up and walk out with them under your arm!"

The photography exhibition will also include examples of Holmes and Redman's "Photo-Peinture" collaboration, presenting a combination of the
latter's photography enhanced with Holmes' acrylic, oil and watercolour
paints applied directly onto the prints.

A strictly limited number of invitations to the private viewing will be available on a first come first served basis to anyone who's bought our photography courses or One-to-One photography days.
