What a great series of lessons for the beginner, I've learned quite a lot. I do have a question regarding lens hoods - does it matter how you 'turn' the hood on a lens. I've seen instances where the longer part is at the top of the lens, and some where it's on the side but the positioning of the camera has remained the same. I understand each hood is built for a particular type of lens, but I'm curious if it matters how it is positioned?

I'm very new to DSLR photography so I'd like to know when I finally get a lens with a hood.

Mike

I will be getting Nikon D3200 soon.

I want to shoot something on a mountainside aproox one and half miles away. Is it possible to get a good shot at that distance? What sort of lens would be needed? How far could one shoot

Along with my D7000 I have a 50mm 1.8, and the 18-200mm 4.5-5.6. I have no particular style of photography except maybe family style. I do love trying a little of everything.

I'm interested in expanding my lens catalog. Men and their toys! I've been looking at the Sigma 10-20mm Ultra Wide, and a 70-300mm zoom for more reach. Honestly I have no idea what would I would enjoy the most.

After seeing your video on Pro Lenses I have a new quandary. Since I have the 18-200mm maybe I should just save and purchase FX lenses for the anticipation of moving to an FX at some point. Do you think the FX cameras will ever be cheap enough to do away with the DX SLR? Should I start to build this direction? What's a good lens to go with the 18-200mm do it all?

Thanks,
Mike

Thanks,
Mike

Hello everyone. I just bought my first dslr which is a nikon D5100. I really dont have a reason why I bought this specific model but as of the moment Im having some regrets because of its lack of built-in af motor in the body. Based on my readings and researches, lenses with built-in af motors tend to be more expensive thats why Im asking you guys for help by giving me a list of not-too-expensive consumer lenses with af motors. All I have right now is the bundled lens which is an af-s nikkor 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 G. Thanks in advance!

Hi Guys,

I am new to photography. I struggled to find information when buying a camera in regards to the type of lense I should get with it. I ended up buying the Canon EOS 600D with the 18mm-55mm lense. After watching a lot of the episodes I have noticed that a lot of shots are taken with the long lenses. My question is will I still be able to take good photo's with the current lense or should I look at getting a longer one as well? If I need a longer lense what size and brand would you recommend for someone who has only just gotten into photography and doesn't want to spend a fortune just yet? Thanks for your help

Just finished watching all of the great new videos. Very impressed with the quality and the content. Looking forward for those in production hitting the site. My eureka moment was to use a zoom lens as a collection of prime lenses. What a difference this had made to composing shoots with great results! Has anybody else had a eureka moment?
