DIY Macro Home Studio Pt. 2

This time photographer Peter Little shows us how he sets up a macro home studio in his kitchen when the light in the front room becomes too harsh as sunshine pours in during the afternoons.

It's so easy to set up a mini macro studio in your own home. You don't need anything more than a piece of glass, a desk lamp, some crepe paper, a couple of books, your camera, tripod and a bit of imagination.

Back lighting translucent things like slices of fruit through the glass looks great and by changing the sheets of crepe paper you can alter the colour of your background.

Using the desk lamp which has a tungsten bulb will give you a yellow colour cast so you have to either shoot RAW and correct later - or set your white balance to Tungsten and make sure there's no daylight sneaking in.

Take a look at out Macro Photography Tips film for more ideas which you could easily incorporate with Peters home studio set up.
