Sunset Photography Pt. 1

There's a lot more to shooting an iconic piece of sunset wall art than taking hundreds of pictures and hoping there'll be a good one somewhere amongst them.

Sunset photography takes planning, patience and a big slice of luck before you can bring home something iconic you'll be proud to hang on the wall. First you have to find the location, find out where where the sun will set and in this case what the tide is doing too.

So Jayne and I thought we'd take you on a real life sunset photo shoot so you can see exactly how I'd approach creating my own piece of wall art. To get a shot like this you'll need to understand composition, how different focal length lenses affect an image, light, how to control converging verticals as well as photo editing in the computer.

However it's just the most exciting, fulfilling rush when everything comes together and you can 'bag' shot after shot and they're all great - the hard part is choosing the one to print!

Special thanks to member Taryn Walker for sharing the location and helping us on the film shoot :-)
