cornish traditional cottages photo competitionCornish Traditional Cottages has announced a new national photography contest for the front cover of its next holiday brochure. The company says it is looking for interesting and striking photos, representative of the county.

Manager at Cornish Traditional Cottages, Mathew Filewood, commented: “The brochure cover is one of the most difficult choices I make each year as it has to work on several levels and be eye-catching and inspiring.” He added: “Photography can portray many things such as an area's people, cultures, customs, history or landscape, so it will be fascinating to see how the public view Cornwall.”

This photography competition is part of an on-going re-branding exercise for the family firm. It has received praise for its innovative use of new marketing techniques such as social media platforms and YouTube. In 2009, it devoted attention to optimising the efficiency of its website, onto which entrants will be able to upload their photos.

Filewood explained: “This is an opportunity for everyone”.

He said: “I'm looking forward to seeing different interpretations of the county”, and added: “I hope there will be a diversity of entries and look forward to one of them taking pride of place on the front of the brochure.”
