It suddenly struck me one day while i was taking a long exposure shot.
I realised that when we use live view that this lifts the mirror for us. Therefore we don't need to use 'mirror lockup' because it's already locked up !
The other big plus is it's really good to focus in live view (on a tripod) with 10x magnification.

The downside is of course that it's sometimes difficult to see in bright sunlight.
...just an observation

Hi Mike I've just watched your latest video on manual control, which as always was great btw! during which I noticed the button on the back of your camera (top left of screen) that looks a bit like a little key & wondered what it's for as I don't have one on my 'getting on a bit' entry level Canon 400D EOS. Just my curious nature at work...

Keep up the good work,
Kay

I have just bought the canon eos 7d. the reason that I did is that I will be retiring soon and I want to have a decent camera that will last me a while as I won't be able to afford one once I retire. have I made a good choice?. Can any 7d owner give me an insight to this dslr.
